“Why is your name Melody?” — since elementary up to college, i have been questioned like this many times. Same questions, and same answer : “Why don’t you ask my parents..”

Is there something wrong in with my name? It’s not uncommon at all, neither unique. It’s common. If you will type in Melody May in google, yahoo, or any search engines there. You will find people with the same name. Why ask me the question ‘Why melody is your name? blah blah blah.’

Ive grown up living with many nicknames. Some sounds good and the rest sounds so weird. People around me - my classmates, schoolmates (but not friends) call me, melody. That is my real name.

While my friends, close friends and bestfriends, call me Lhod. This is not my family grown up nickname, my classmate Eunice(2nd year highschool) first to call me that nickname. From highschool up to know, they call me Lhod. As what i have said, that is not my grown up nickname.

“Milo!” read as meeloh. Others mistakenly pronounce that as ‘Maylo‘. and it sounds weird. That’s why i did not let anyone call me that, but when it comes to my family, it doesn’t annoy me anymore hearing that mabaho nickname. hehe..

MM . yeah, my mother told me, at first she wants this to be my nickname. The first two initial of my name. Melody May. But infortunately, a relative first call me Milo. Well, if that would be my nickname, it’s not mabaho nickname anymore. This became my nickname when i was only infant. haha!

“Pepang!” Yeah, you read it right. it is pepang. My naughty teaser friends would call me this rather than Lhod. it sounds weird and oldies, but they enjoy calling me and it’s cool. Maybe they have seen my friendster account named Pepang Kilabot. Actually, pepang kilabot derived from Pepepng kilabot. A username of my crush on his account. Eventually, i got this idea to imitate his name!. But i changed Pepe to Pepang. Oooops! im sorry. haha

And my online Buddies usually call me ‘Emlodee’. The story behind it, it’s melody still. But ive just flipped the first two letters of my name then changed ‘y’ from double ‘e’ .

“Why is your name Melody?” Whatever. My real name is Melody May Lafue Nanca. My mother just told me Melody– because both my mother and father are musically inclined; May — i was born in the month of may. That’s why this is my name.
